Bethesda has release the new trailer Fallout 4 – Automatron. In their own words:
“The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!”
While we have various opinions among the Slickster staff on the current and future state of the Fallout series, it is undeniable that we spend a lot time playing it. We build settlements. Sometimes we get tired of linear gameplay so we do side missions. Sometimes, in those side missions, we take drugs. We curse at the bugs. Not like rage quit, more like cranky old guy, shake his fist in the air and shout, “You damn kids with your damn rock and roll music!” But instead of rock and roll music we say “Bugs.”
What’s amazing about this trailer is that actually makes mech play look fun again. Even with the Sarah Conner-esqe overtones, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Yes, she could have easily slipped in something about Skynet becoming self aware and it would have totally fit in. But then you get the Automatron robots that look like something straight of a season two of Battlebots, and the comical droid voice to seal the deal. It’s a reminder, don’t take this too serious. This is a game, remember?
Who doesn’t like fighting robots? Long before Hugh Jackman did that retarded Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots ripoff there was Robot Jox. If you are old enough to remember this robot slug fest show, leave a comment below and lets us know. But let’s not forget my personal favorite robot movie. Who said Short Circuit?! Wrong. If you guessed Pacific Rim, you chose wisely.
What does all this have to do with Fallout 4? Who cares, this trailer looks awesome and the game looks fun. So let’s pass up the Jaegers for a shot of Jaeger and play some video games.
Fallout 4 – Automatron is available for purchase on March 22nd.
