Friday the 13th Part XI Speculation

Friday the 13th Part XI header

Friday the 13th, which currently has Prisoners‘ scribe, Aaron Guzikowski, penning the screenplay, has been a bumpy road for Friday fans in regards to getting a firm release date and any details as to what the plot will entail. We are going to give our thoughts and hopes as to what we would like to see out of the new Friday The 13th. Please give us your ideas and hopes as to what you would like to see in the comments below. Or better yet, if YOU were hired as the director, what direction would you take the film in? Let’s have some fun with this.

We learned last month that the script was supposed to be completed by sometime this April. We reached out to Paramount, with no response given as to the status of said script. We understand that they are having a hard time figuring out what to do with Jason. At one point, he was going to be thrown into a first-person Blair Witch-style perspective. Then he was going to be set in a snowy tundra.

We are hoping that they play it retro style. Here are some of our hopes and wishes for the new Friday the 13th Part XI. Let’s start by naming the series numerically with the subtitle.

Friday the 13th Part XI: Jason’s Revenge

Jason Unmasked from Friday the 13th Part VII.

We have had Jason in the future with Jason X (not as bad as some people make it out to be). We had him in the 90s with Jason Goes to Hell (as bad as all people male it out to be), with the rest of the original series taking place during the seminal 1980s. Throw the Friday mythology back where it started, in the 80s. Let’s keep the shots dark, less saturated, and keep the effects practical! Oh, and of course, let’s bring Kane Hodder back to play the role of Jason.

Bring in a director who is familiar with the series, and let him or her have full creative control. Too many times, we hear about producers rearing their ugly head in and making changes to the script/scenes. (We are looking at you, Friday VII.) Could you imagine if they brought back say Tom McLoughlin, director of Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI, and said, “Hey, go for it!” This could give the series the headway it needs to push the series forward. Lastly, if we are going with Tom McLoughlin as the director, let’s include Jason’s father in the story somehow.

With shooting taking place this summer (we will believe it when we see it), let’s hope that Paramount lets the movie grow organically and that the fans get something they deserve.

Cheers,

Nate
