Nintendo’s San Diego Showdown

In San Diego, California, from July 20 to July 23, Nintendo plans to make the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina hotel the place for Nintendo fun for all ages. The company plans to present a playable version of Super Mario Odyssey, at the San Diego Comic-Con booth, and use the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina hotel ballroom to allow visitors to take on Nintendo’s other quality properties and fans.

Below is a list of content that will be available for play.

San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina
Nintendo Switch

Nintendo 3DS

The Play Nintendo Challenge will be open from 10am-7pm on July 20 and July 21, and 10am-5pm on July 23. Participation is on a “first-come, first-served basis”. If selected, competitors will start with an eight-player turf war match in Splatoon 2. The winning team of four will then compete against each other in the fighting game ARMS. The final two players will enter the finals with a one-on-one battle in the upcoming Switch game Pokkén Tournament DX.

Splatoon 2 launches, during San Diego Comic-Con, on July 21, 2017. A Splatoon 2themed photo booth will be set up at the Marriott Marquis and Marina to let fans take photographs of replicas of Splatoon 2 weapons. Two professional Splatoon 2 cosplayers, Heidi O’Ferrall ,@AtelierHeidi, and Leo Camacho, @LeoZombie, will even visit the booth at select times to celebrate the game’s launch and take photos with fans. The first 20 fans per day that show up to the Splatoon 2 photo booth in Splatoon costumes will receive game-themed gifts.

If anyone was available, and that is understatement, to play the Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere Demonstration, or plays ARMS you understand what an event like this means. It is about exposure to the epic content. This is a place for passionate fandom. Socialize and connect with others in the Nintendo community. They might even reveal other great surprises for participants.

This is a bittersweet event for me. I am on the east coast, but have a love for Nintendo’s products. If you get to go San Diego Comic-Con for the announcements, floor interactions, and game demonstrations that is one thing.  What they have at San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina hotel is another. The hope is you get the chance to go. I played Splatoon 2’s demonstration and it is the next step. The game is responsive and the look is this mature high school-style game play. It is everything you want from the next Splatoon. ARMS is another beast. Add EA SPORTS FIFA 18, Super Mario Maker, for the 3DS, or any other titles on the list above and it looks to be the ultimate good time.
