RETURN OF SAMURAI JACK (PART 2)

MAIN CHARACTERS

AKU-

Aku is the shape-shifting master of darkness that poses as the principal antagonist in the Samurai Jack chronicles.  His origin story, and Jack’s, is mildly intertwined. When Aku first came to earth as a pure evil entity, exiled by the gods from space, he manifested a black forest. After battling Jack’s father (The Emperor), he was encased in a singular wretched black tree, and did not emerge until Jack was a child.

When Jack came to battle him with his magical sword, he sent him into the future, where he was certain he would control the planet so entirely, that Jack could not defeat him. This is almost true, as the entire planet, its people, and its resources, have been plundered by Aku and his robot army so extensively that most people and places are dangerous and hostile to Jack. He is constantly chased by bounty hunters sine Aku has placed an insanely massive bounty on his head. In addition Aku himself often hunts Jack, taking on various human forms, and over 21 different animal forms in his various exploits against Jack.

Aku is similar to the trickster god Loki, Chinese river gods, and the general demonic archetype. He plays tricks, and toys with victims to his own amusement, sometimes this leads to his downfall, when he betrays his allies against Jack, in his lust for Jacks destruction. He takes pleasure in torturing and mocking Jack’s psyche and emotion, yet always lives in fear, as Jack is the only one who can end him.

SAMURAI JACK:

The samurai called Jack actually has no name. This moniker was simply given to him as a joke by the first people he met when he entered the future. He adopted the name and continues to go by it.  Jack originally hails from feudal Japan, he was a prince in his time, which was sent to travel the world and learn diverse martial arts as a young boy, in order to one day return home and defeat Aku. However, when he does finally almost defeat Aku, he is abruptly sent into the very distant future. The rest of the series then entails his various journeys and adventures on his righteous quest to return to the past, and finally defeat Aku.

Jack is the absolute highest caliber of warrior in virtually any facet . He also seems to be a type of chosen one, a sort of holy solider who is often blessed by various gods and entities in his quest. He is a classic stoic hero, and displaying total selflessness at all times on his pure quest to defeat Aku.  His friends and foes seem to be split up into individuals and/or groups that are either willing to defy Aku or not. Almost no characters particularity like Aku, before they often attach Jack in Aku’s name out of either fear of a punishment, or pursuit of a promised reward for Jacks defeat. Amazingly Jack’s purity does often convert enemies to friends.

He is an archetypal hero placed in the most bizarre of apocalyptic space age alien demon wastelands, which have every conceivable notion of magic and fantastic danger imaginable. And Jack’s reactions, emotional story, passionate quest, unbreakable likability are what make this show a cult classic for so many young people that are excited to see Jack return on March, 11, 2017

Jack is voiced by Phil Lamar.

THE SCOTSMAN:

The Scotsman is one of the only re-occurring future characters in the series. He initially meets Jack as a rival, yet after the two are forced to work together due to circumstance, they become the best of friends. They constantly are returning to each other’s aid in massive self-sacrificing ways, such as Jack helping the Scotsman rescue his wife, and the Scotsman helping Jack regain his memory and sword. It has even been revealed that a partially cybernetically enhanced Scotsman will also aid Jack in his Season 5 return.

The Scotsman is a fan favorite in many ways. He is a loyal friend to the highest degree, uses a broadsword infused with ancient Celtic runes, and comes from a close knit Scottish clan. He says he is actually the most mellow member of his clan, which is a surprising claim, due to how brash, vulgar, and overly confident as well as showboat-ish he often is. Another iconic feature of the Scotsman, is how much he loves his wife. Jack quests with him to free his wife from Aku, and the entire time he does nothing but go on and on about how beautiful and perfect his wife is. It is then revealed that his wife is a large fat woman that is obnoxious, as well as highly abusive. Regardless, the Scotsman is smitten. His other mannerisms include his love of his bagpipes, as well as a desire to constantly try and outdo Jack in all manner of both physical feats, and shows of hospitality.
