River Treasure hunter brings new interest to exploring underwater

1/7/2017 – Underwater enthusiast, Jake Koehler,(DALLMYD) has been filming his adventures and publishing them online for the masses.  His youtube channel is skyrocketing and features short clips of him exploring the subaqueous environment.  During which he hunts for ‘treasures, free captured animals and cleans up the rivers.   Pretty cool, huh?

As of writing this, his new 2016 montage is on Youtube’s top 10 trending list, so we decided to ring Jake up and ask a few questions about what he does.  Here’s what he had to say:

Slickster Magazine: How do train yourself to hold your breath for longer periods of time?
Jake –  I used to watch videos on YouTube of freedivers and tried to hold my breath for as long as they were underwater. I also practiced just by swimming everyday. The more I swam the better I got.

What are some of the important safety concerns when you go out into the open water?
It’s important to know your limit. Having a friend with you while swimming is nice. I always carry a knife on me while I dive. I’ve been stuck in fishing line and hooked a couple times.
What’s the best way to get involved with outdoor water sports?
Go out and explore an activity. You’ll meet people that share the same interests as you. You’ll learn more in time.

Can you name the top 3 weirdest, wildest or crazy things you found in the rivers?
My top 3 finds have to be a GoPro, iPhone and a gun! I’ve been able to locate the original owners of most of the GoPros I’ve found along with the iPhone. It’s nice to find something, but it’s also a great feeling giving it back to the owner.

How can people best support you and your channel?
The best way to support my channel is by subscribing for more videos. I absolutely love searching for river treasure and sharing videos with my subscribers. Subscribe and follow me on my daily adventures!
