Three Boxing Fights We Need In 2018

Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder

The fight between Anthony Joshua & Wladimir Klitschko will go down as one of the greatest in heavyweight history, both men hit the canvas at various stages of the contest before Joshua finished the fight in the 11th round.

With a strong following in his home country and all the attributes needed to be a star, Joshua is the MVP of the weight class.

Wilder recently faced some serious adversity in the ring for the first time but negotiated the trouble eventually finding a home for his right. Deontay Wilder ended the fight in the 10th which took his record to 40-0 with 39 KO’s.

Fresh from passing the toughest test of his career Deontay Wilder wasted no time in calling out Anthony Joshua.

For the longest time, America was without a heavyweight champion after decades of dominance. In Deontay Wilder America now has a champion and the perfect British antagonist to create a huge heavyweight contest which would be the biggest since Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson.

Errol Spence Jr vs Keith Thurman

One of the breakthrough talents of 2017 Errol Spence shook up the welterweight division by traveling to England to face Kell Brook in his hometown of Sheffield. In his first world title fight, Spence showed grit, determination, and an ability to adapt defeating Brook by TKO in the penultimate round of the fight.

Spence is only 28 years old so there’s plenty of time for him to milk his status before taking risky fights. The talented southpaw is so eager for greatness that following the Brook fight Spence immediately turned his focus to Keith Thurman who is widely considered the best welterweight on the planet.

Thurman has been nursing an injury since his last fight in March of 2017 when he earned a decision over Danny Garcia.

One of the most explosive punchers in the sport of boxing Keith “One Time” Thurman is on a run of impressive wins over recognised names, although, Thurman’s took some heat lately for not showing the same enthusiasm to fight Spence as Spence has shown in wanting to fight Thurman.

It’s inevitable that Thurman will have a tune-up fight on his return from injury & hopefully later in 2018 the demand for Thurman vs Spence will be so high that Thurman will have no choice but to accept the challenge.

Amongst the shark tank of talent at Welterweight, there’s no better fight to make than this one between two skillful undefeated fighters in the athletic prime of their lives.

Amir Khan vs Kell Brook

Khan & Brook have circled each other for many years despite teasing a potential fight on numerous occasions. They may be coming towards the end of their professional careers but this all British match-up would still do good numbers today.

A major stumbling block up to now has been the politics between Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn and Amir Khan’s management team. Amir Khan recently signed with Eddie Hearn which makes this fight far more likely to happen.

Kell Brook got back to winning ways taking out Sergey Rabchenko in two rounds earlier this month.

After two hard fights against GGG & Errol Spence, it was important for Brook to get a win not only for his confidence but to re-establish himself as one of the best in the world.

Khan has been absent since the devastating KO loss he suffered against Canelo Alvarez. Although the fight ended in spectacular fashion Khan did his reputation no harm with the way he performed that night considering the size disadvantage he was facing.

A fight between Khan & Brook could easily sell out a football stadium in England, they are both at a similar point in their respective Careers which means this is an ideal time to make this fight.
