Ten Best Vacation Spots for Bachelors

Ten Best Vacation Spots for Bachelors

For most people, the word “vacation” conjures images of families sightseeing or honeymooners traveling to an island resort. The single man looking to get away is mostly overlooked when it comes to vacation ideas  and advertising. Don’t worry, lone traveler, we’ve got you covered! I exhausted my resources to bring you a solid list of the best vacation spots for bachelors.

NYC

Even if you happen to live in New York City, there’s a good chance that you still haven’t seen all the Big Apple has to offer. The nightlife is full of countless bars and music venues. Once you’ve hit up a proper deli for a sandwich to help fight your hangover you can see the sites. There’s the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial and locations from iconic films. To round out your day, you can spend an afternoon in Central Park. There’s a little something for everyone in NYC.

Portland, OR

If you’re looking for good beer, cooler temperatures, and laid back locals Portland, Oregon is your town. This gem tucked away in the Pacific Northwest has more breweries than any other city in the US. It would take one hell of a wild weekend to work your way through all the craft beer on tap. If bar hopping isn’t you scene, you could always go pick up some top shelf edibles from a local dispensary and head out to Forest Park and hunt for Bigfoot.

New Orleans

Even if you miss the annual Mardi Gras celebrations, New Orleans is a great place to visit. It’s deep history and local culture make it one of the best vacation spots for bachelors who like the spooky stuff. The city has been the setting of hundreds of horror movies and novels.  From voodoo queens to giant fruity drinks, NOLA offers something a little different than your average tourist town.

Pigeon Forge, TN

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a where you would want to go if you’re in the market for a fairly normal tourist town.  The fact that it’s a stone’s throw away from the Great Smoky Mountains sets it apart from the rest, though. It is a city built specifically to be a vacation destination. There are countless attractions, specialty shops, and restaurants lining the small mountain town’s streets. Imagine Branson, Missouri with some mountain charm. It’s good clean family fun with a side of moonshine. You can stay in one of the resort hotels or get yourself a cabin on the outskirts of town. Once you’ve had enough of all the lights and crowds get yourself a jar of moonshine and take a trip to the Smoky Mountains and clear your head.

Playa del Carmen

Do you want to take a trip south of the border? If you do but don’t want to be packed in with a bunch of college kids in Cancun or dodging the dangers of being in the wrong part of Tia Juana you can check out Playa del Carmen. It’s just about an hour away from Cancun so you can expect to find most of the same accommodations but with less hassle. The vibrant nightlife and inviting community make Playa del Carmen one of the best vacation spots for bachelors who want to get out and live a little but still want to chill.

Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is in the neighborhood of 2,000 miles and stretches from Georgia to Maine. You can choose to hike the whole thing or just a fraction of it. You can do it all solo or meet up with other hikers along the trail and make some new friends. Either way, if you’re looking to get away from it all or want to know what it’s like to drift from town to town this would be the vacation for you.

Asheville, NC

Asheville is laid back artsy mountain town tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. You can take your time visiting art galleries, breweries, and small quirky restaurants. On the other hand you can go and tour the gorgeous 8,000 acre Biltmore Estate for all of your classy Southern charm needs. Whether you’re looking for the lap of luxury or a bar full of gutter punks, Asheville has you covered.

Las Vegas

For as long as I can remember, Las Vegas has been one of the best vacation spots for bachelors.  You can take in the sites and sounds of the strip and call it a day or you can go in for the debauchery that makes Vegas so fun. Hit up the slot machines at one of the several casinos and enjoy some free drinks. Get your money up and move on to some table games. If you find yourself on a losing streak just go pick up some legal weed to soothe your nerves. If you’re feeling really adventurous you can take your winnings to one of Nevada’s legal brothels and end your vacation with a bang!

Austin, TX

Do you like beer, barbecue, and live music? Then you’ll love Austin, Texas. With a motto like, “Keep Austin weird” it’s easy to see how the capitol city stands out from the rest of the state. If you go in mid March, you can even check out the South by Southwest Festival. Even if you miss SXSW, you’ll find no shortage of live music and nightlife in Austin. Whenever you go, it’ll be easy to see why Austin is one of the best vacation spots for bachelors.

Road Trip

Inject some chaos into your solo vacation! Pick a direction, pack your bags, and get behind the wheel. With no real destination or schedule, you can take you time and experience all the little things that you’d pass up on a regular vacation. Do you want to check out the kind of shady tourist traps? Go for it! Want to stop for lunch and catch a mid-day movie? You don’t have anywhere else to be. In a time when we are all beholden to schedules and deadlines it is healthy to get away from everything and just live in the moment.
